Invest in Mauritius
Mauritius has opened its doors to the world. The country wants to attract foreign investors and professionals to contribute to its Vision 2030, that is, becoming a high-income nation. Business opportunities abound in existing sectors, new sectors and new segments of existing sectors.
The local business climate is very investor-friendly and foreigners can easily obtain a residence permit. Acquisition of residential and business property is also much easier than before. Foreign nationals are free to invest in a wide range of activities and obtain an ‘Occupation Permit’ as Investor.
An Occupation Permit is a combined work and residence permit and the holder’s dependents are eligible for a residence permit. An Investor’s permit is given for 10 years, and is renewable thereafter. To qualify, the Investor must transfer to his company’s bank account in Mauritius at least 50,000 USD (or its equivalent in any convertible currency).
Mauritius is a free economy. Corporate tax is only 15% for domestic activities and 3% for export-oriented activities and there is no Capital Gains Tax, no Inheritance Tax, no foreign exchange control and no prohibition on 100% repatriation of capital or profits. Foreigners can hold 100% shareholding in a company. There is no need to be a resident to own a company.
